　　一个隔代教养的单亲高中女生春英，因为家庭环境的关系，独自一人离乡背井来到台北景美女中就学，并参加学校的拔河队，虽然大部份拔河队同学来自单亲和经济状况不佳的家庭，但女孩们都非常的正向，反而因为没有退路的家庭背景，使得她们在课业及拔河的训练，比常人更加努力。拉起粗粗的麻绳，一群女孩，用 17 岁的青春和一双双长茧的手，整齐划一的呐喊、拉拔着，在严格认真的郭教练带领，以及热心温柔的吴老师辅导下，这群拔河女孩们牺牲青春岁月，挥洒着她们的汗水与泪水，在冷门的拔河运动中与绳子拚博，靠着志气、勇气和坚持，还有努力改变未来的决心与毅力，展现出高昂的战斗精神，用力拉出属于她们的一片天，向全世界证明她们的志气……

Most sports involve dashing forward for victory, but tug-of-war requires players take a step back to win. For the girls' tug-of-war team of Jingmei Girls High School, that one crucial step back gave them the victory of a lifetime. Based on a true story, Step Back to Glory is an inspiring story about the Jingmei girls' arduous journey from underdog to becoming a championship team. To stay true to the real story, the filmmakers intentionally chose members of the Jingmei High School tug-of-war team to play themselves. The sole exception is young idol Yao Yao (a.k.a. Kuo Shu Yao), who shows her own growth as an actress with her first film lead role here, playing a student from the countryside determined to prove her worth in the team. Even director Chang Bo Rui had to walk a tough road to get Step Back to Glory made, giving up a comfortable production consultant job to bring the girls' story to the big screen.
