Vienna Philharmonic & Lorin Maazel / Summer Night Concert 2013
Summer Night Concert 2013 with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Lorin Maazel, features the music of Verdi and Wagner in celebration of their bicentennial anniversaries. Recorded live on May 30, the program consists of beloved works by Verdi including the Triumphal March from Aida, "La mia letizia infondere" aria from I Lombardi, dances from Otello and the overtures from Luisa Miller and Forza del Destino. These pieces alternate with selections from Wagner's best known works including the Prelude to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, the Story of the Holy Grail from Lohengrin and the popular favorite "Ride of the Valkyries" from Die Walküre.
