The Division Bell - the fourteenth studio album by English progressive rock band Pink Floyd. In the UK album was released March 28, 1994 via EMI, the U.S. release was held on 4 April of the same year by Columbia Records.
Music mostly written by David Gilmour and Richard Wright, lyrics focused mainly on the topic of communication. Recording of the album took place at several locations, including the studio owned by Pink Floyd Britannia Row Studios and Astoria, owned by Gilmore Houseboat, which is equipped with a recording studio. Along with the Pink Floyd, to work on the album was attended by producer Bob Ezrin, engineer Andy Jackson and saxophonist Dick Parry. Co-author of many lyrics became Polly Samson, the last wife of David Gilmour. On The Division Bell Richard Wright for the first time since 1973, when the band released The Dark Side of the Moon, he sang lead vocals.
The Division Bell reached the top of the charts Britain and the United States, but critics took it cool. The album was released immediately after the Pink Floyd tour the U.S. and Europe. In June 1994, the U.S. won the disk status of gold, platinum and double platinum, and in January 1999 went triple platinum.
