With this wonderful production, Mozart's Idomeneo returns to the site of its 1781 premiere. And indeed the Cuvillies Theatre, a jewel of Rococo architecture, embraces the 'Munich opera' just as it did before. Dieter Dorn's surpassing production brings top notch performers like conductor Kent Nagano and tenor John Mark Ainsley together with minimalistic modern staging to transform the work into a striking, elemental, and realistic force of nature.
